Baylake
Bank Provides Double Benefit with Market Animal Purchase & Donation to
Food Pantries in Waupaca, Weyauwega/Fremont, and Manawa.
September 8, 2009 - Baylake Bank
recently purchased two hogs, a duck, and a goose from the Waupaca County
Fair Livestock Auction, and donated the meat to local food pantries. The
animals were purchased at the Livestock Auction from Rodney Kempf, Brian
Wehrle, and Danielle Arnold who are members of the local 4H Club. The
meat was donated to the food pantries located in Waupaca,
Weyauwega/Fremont, and Manawa.
The purpose of the Livestock Auction Project is to instill
responsibility, pride of ownership, and management skills in youth, who
often use the proceeds from the sale of their animals for educational
purposes or to invest in additional animals. “Donating the meat to the
food pantries made the meat purchase even more rewarding. This is a
difficult time of year for most food pantries since their supplies are
dwindling. It is gratifying to know that our purchase not only helped
the kids who worked so hard to raise and show their animals, but also
helped local families in need, through the service provided by the food
pantries,” said Ken Lammersfeld, Baylake Bank Central Region Market
President.
Donations are still needed at most food pantries, and members of the
public are encouraged to contact the nearest food pantry for more
information about how to make cash or supply donations.
