John CumicekCumicek Retires from Bank but Continues on Baylake Board

February 4, 2009-- After more than 40 years of helping people in the Seymour and surrounding areas through a variety of banking related roles, John Cumicek will soon be vacating his office at the Baylake Bank Seymour Financial Center. Cumicek is retiring from his role as a vice president of the bank, but will continue his Baylake connection via involvement on the bank’s Bay Area Regional Board.

A Seymour resident since 1944, Cumicek was born in Racine, Wisconsin, and graduated from Seymour High School and then St. Norbert College. He served two and a half years in the Army, stationed in Oklahoma and Germany. He then spent five years with the State of Wisconsin as a bank examiner in Madison, Appleton, and Milwaukee. After switching hats to become a banker himself, Cumicek worked as a lender, vice president, and president. He has been with Baylake Bank since 1998, and in his role as regional board member, will continue his long established connection between the area and local banking.

In addition to his leadership role with Baylake Bank, Cumicek has served the community extensively over the years. He commented, “This community is very important to me, so I am active with many area organizations. It is my goal to always give my best through personalized service, whether through my volunteer work, or my commitment to Baylake Bank and the local economy.”

Cumicek’s recent community involvement includes: Outagamie County Fair Association (President); Kiwanis Club of Seymour (Member, Past President, Past Secretary); Selective Service System (Wisconsin State Director – 19 years); Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region, Inc. (Member of the Sheltered Activity Advisory Committee); Boy Scout Troop 117 (Charter Organization Troop Committee Member); American Legion Post 106 (Commander of Drill Squad); St. Norbert College (Green Bay Area Task Force Member); and the Military Officers Club of Northeast Wisconsin, Inc (Treasurer). In addition, a partial list of organizations he has volunteered for in the past includes: Seymour Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club of Seymour, Wisconsin Bankers Association, United States and Wisconsin National Guard Associations, Knights of Columbus, and Seymour Economic Development Corporation.

Cumicek has received multiple military decorations, and the accolades of his banking peers and customers. “We will definitely miss John’s day to day presence here at the bank, but we know we’ll still have strong connections. It’s very encouraging to know he is always looking out for the best interests of the community and Baylake Bank. We’re very grateful to have had him on our team for as long as we did,” commented Lisa Rickert, Baylake Bank Seymour Financial Center Manager.

“I would like to thank the many customers I have had the privilege of working with throughout my banking career. I hope the Seymour community is a better place to "live the good life" because of the services I have been part of implementing. Thank you to the many directors, officers, and employees who supported me in my banking career," commented Cumicek.
