Baylake Bank Community Service Project Warms Hearts … and Toes –
Donation to Veterans Home Used for Warming Equipment; Plus, Supplies Sent to Soldiers

November 20, 2008 - - Baylake Bank employees across northeast and central Wisconsin recently wrapped up community service efforts to benefit the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, in addition to soldiers currently on active duty in Iraq. More than $3,500 was raised for the Veterans Home, and about six grocery carts full of personal care items, laundry soap, books, board games, and food were sent to the soldiers.

“We really appreciate Baylake Bank’s efforts to raise these funds for our disabled and elderly veterans,” commented Steve Stead, Financial Officer of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. “We will be using the donation to purchase a blanket warmer. As anyone who’s spent some time in the hospital knows, a warm blanket isn’t just a luxury when you’re confined to a bed or wheelchair; it can be an important part of proper care. Unfortunately, it isn’t something typically covered by state funds. Thank you for this contribution to support the men and women who have served our country!”

The care packages that Baylake Bank coordinated for the troops were created for the 2BCT 4ID Army Brigade, which is currently on active duty in Iraq. This particular unit was selected because its membership includes both the son and daughter-in-law of a Baylake Bank employee. Bank staff contributed items, along with donations brought in by community members through the bank’s 28 financial centers throughout northeast and central Wisconsin.

Operation Baylake Community Service was conducted from late October until November 11, Veteran’s Day, when all bank staff gathered for training. “We really appreciate all of the contributions from our customers and communities,” commented Heather Weller, Baylake Bank Trust Officer and part of the community service project team. “In combination with all of our employee contributions and efforts, this really came together to make a meaningful difference.”

Baylake Bank, Member FDIC/Equal Housing Lender, employs over 320 individuals throughout northeastern and central Wisconsin and serves its communities from 28 financial centers in Brown, Door, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Outagamie, Waupaca, and Waushara counties and from its website at www.baylake.com.
