Operation "Baylake Bank Community Service" for Soldiers & Veterans –
Greenbacks Traded for Blue Jeans on Election Day; Care Packages Created on
Veterans Day
October 31, 2008 - As part of an organization-wide community
service project that employees of Baylake Bank are coordinating, employees will
pay $5 each in exchange for wearing blue jeans on Tuesday, November 4 – Election
Day. All proceeds will be donated to the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King,
Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Veterans Home is a retirement community where aging or
disabled Wisconsin veterans and their spouses can spend their retirement years
in comfort and dignity. Founded in 1887, the Home is operated by the Wisconsin
Department of Veterans Affairs.
In addition, during an all-staff training session on November 11 – Veterans' Day
– bank staff will be creating care packages to send to the 2BCT Army Brigade,
which is currently on active duty in Iraq. This particular company was selected
because its membership includes both the son and daughter-in-law of a Baylake
Bank employee.
"We are very excited and honored to coordinate these efforts in support of
active duty soldiers and retired veterans. We are so proud of and grateful to
both groups, and this community service project seemed like a natural fit during
this time of patriotic focus, between Election Day and Veterans Day," commented
Heather Weller, Baylake Bank Trust Officer, and member of the bank team
coordinating the service project.
Supplies for the active-duty care package and cash donations for the Veterans
Home are being accepted at all Baylake Bank Financial Centers until Monday,
November 10. For more information, contact your nearest Financial Center or call
1-800-267-3610.
Baylake Bank employs over 320 individuals throughout northeastern and central
Wisconsin and serves its communities from 28 financial centers in Brown, Door,
Green Lake, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Outagamie, Waupaca, and Waushara counties and
