Baylake Bank’s Premier Club Celebrates 10th Annual Holiday Gift Program;
Public Invited to Participate in Spirit of Giving
November 12, 2007
Sturgeon Bay, WI – The Baylake Bank
Premier Club is once again sponsoring its “Holiday Gift Program” designed to
benefit homebound mature citizens within the Door County Community. A group of
volunteers including Baylake Bank employees is working in cooperation with
Neighbor to Neighbor, Meals-on-Wheels, and the Dorchester to make it possible
for individuals in need to receive essential personal care items and holiday
gifts.
Baylake Bank and Wal-Mart provide baskets to be filled, and community volunteers
play the integral role of filling them with TLC. “These baskets make the
holidays brighter for many individuals who often can’t get the basic supplies
they need, let alone receive any holiday gifts,” said Barbara Malzahn, Baylake
Bank Premier Club Coordinator.
The community is invited to participate by selecting from a number of holiday
wishes that have been placed on the Premier Club’s Holiday Gift Tree, and that
represent individuals whose names remain anonymous. Volunteers are provided with
a basket for the items they will purchase. Some of the suggested items include:
shampoo, soap, lotion, deodorant, aftershave, bath oil, socks, gloves, blankets,
pre-paid phone cards, nightlights, flashlights, batteries, postage stamps, and
small decorations.
The Holiday Gift Tree will be displayed in the Baylake Bank Conference Center at
222 N. 3rd Avenue in Sturgeon Bay from November 19 through December 15, 2007.
Interested volunteers can pick up a basket between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, or contact Malzahn with any questions at (920) 743-5551,
ext. 1136. The baskets must be returned to the Conference Center no later than
December 15, 2007, in order to meet delivery schedules. Filled gift baskets are
delivered prior to Christmas by Malzahn and her elves.
“It’s hard to believe that it has already been 10 years since we identified the
need to coordinate a program like this for seniors in our community,” said
Malzahn. “The generosity of our volunteers, and the joy of the basket
recipients, has made this a truly successful outreach effort. I’m looking
forward to another great year of sharing the holiday spirit through our Holiday
Gift Program!”
