Organizers of the Baylake Bank Tall Ship Festival
are pleased to announce the first four ships
(10-13 total ships) coming to Green Bay July
27-31, 2006 for the five day event in downtown
Green Bay.
H.M.S. Bounty –
used in the
upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean II (to
be released Summer, 2006). She was built for the
1962 movie
Mutiny on the Bounty by MGM
Studios and later operated as a sail training
vessel.
Bounty and her crew helped prepare
the officers and crew to sail USS
Constitution
for her bicentennial sail in 1997.
Highlander Sea – dedicated to
showcasing the marine lore of Port Huron, Michigan
and the Great Lakes region. This ship was designed
by W. Starling Burgess and built in 1924 in Essex,
Massachusetts. Originally christened
Pilot,
she served 47 years as a Boston Harbor pilot ship.
Unicorn – built in 1947,
Unicorn’s
hull was crafted from the metals of captured
German U-boats salvaged after World War II. The
Dutch-built fishing vessel was converted into a
sailing ship in 1979.
Royaliste –
Royaliste is a
71’ LOA gaff-rigged, square-tops’l ketch refit to
specifications of an 18th-century dispatch
gunboat/bomb ketch. She is known for holding
“Pirate Circuses” or historical reenactments.
The additional 6-9 ships that will be featured at
the Baylake Tall Ship Festival will be announced
as they are signed on over the next month or two.
The Festival is expected to draw 50,000 people
from a five-state region.
Green Bay is the first and only city in the state
to host a major Tall Ships
®

needed for this festival. Volunteer and festival
