Green Bay (April 26, 2006) - More than 700 local volunteers are needed
to make the Baylake Bank Tall Ship Festival a success! Area residents are
being recruited to serve as a “volunteer crew” for this exciting,
family-friendly event in downtown Green Bay July 27-31. From taking
tickets to working directly with ship crews, there are a variety of ways
for people to become part of the action. Individuals wishing to
volunteer can contact the Volunteer Center at (920) 429-9445, or complete
an online application at
www.tallshipgreenbay.com.
The Volunteer Center of Brown County has been contracted to recruit
volunteers and assist with the management of this valuable resource.
“We’re just delighted to be part of this project,” said Christine
Danielson, Executive Director of the Volunteer Center. “This will be a
really unique way for some of the great volunteers in our community to
pitch in and help create a wonderful event for everyone to enjoy!”
Jobs on the “Volunteer Crew” include:
- Ship Liaison: Work as an ambassador between Green Bay and that
particular ship and work with the ships’ captains to purchase supplies,
run errands, etc..
- Collection of Tickets: Collect tickets at main gate from patrons and
help give directions and information to event guests.
- Crowd Control: Help direct foot traffic, help keep lines orderly and
moving smoothly.
- Grounds Maintenance: Help maintain festival grounds to ensure a safe
and clean atmosphere for attendees.
The Baylake Bank Tall Ship Festival will bring 14 tall ships to the
Port of Green Bay and it’s possible more ships will choose to visit. The
festival, complete with ship tours, entertainment and food, is expected
to draw 50,000 people from a five-state region. Go to
